What’s in a Name? is an exhibit based on the top 100 surnames in the U.S, their meanings, and their languages of origin. The target audience would be children and families, so the information is presented simply and through illustration. The name meanings are categorized based on trends in naming, and examples are illustrated. For the interactive portion, visitors could enter their own name and find out where it falls on the list of the top 1000 surnames in the U.S., if it makes the list at all. They can then use pushpins to show where they land on the pie charts provided.
